Cornstarch is most well-known as a thickener for gravies and sauces. But there are other uses for cornstarch.

Diaper rash is very miserable for babies. Cornstarch is excellent to soothe diaper rash. Apply cornstarch with every diaper change.

Cornstarch soothes all types of skin irritations. For example, it can be used on rashes, itchiness caused by allergies, and sunburned skin. Apply as a paste made by mixing cornstarch with a bit of water. After the paste dries, rinse off with warm water.

Cornstarch can be used as a dry shampoo. Simply apply the cornstarch with your hands. Let it sit for a little while. Then brush out well.

Cornstarch can be used as an egg substitute for people who have an allergy to eggs or those who need to avoid eggs for other health reasons. Mix together 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 3 tablespoons of water in a small dish for every egg called for. Then add to the other ingredients.

Dusting the cake lightly with cornstarch will prevent the icing from running off when frosting a cake.
