While almonds are a nut and are high in fat, they are also nutritious and particularly, almonds are good for weight loss.
Studies found that people who eat almonds regularly weigh less than people who don’t eat almonds.
Researchers conducted a study of 20 overweight women. The women ate two ounces, about one-fourth cup, of almonds daily for ten weeks. The women gained no weight during that time.
Study participants who ate almonds experienced an 18% weight loss and a 14% reduction in waist circumference. Participants not eating almonds showed an 11% weight loss and a 9% loss in waist circumference.
The high protein content of almonds reduces appetite by producing a satisfied feeling and also by decreasing the number of total carbohydrates otherwise eaten by more fattening foods. The high fiber in almonds also reduces the amount of fat stored by the body. Almonds contain unsaturated fat which helps fight belly fat.
