Radishes are very easy to grow. Depending on variety, radishes are ready to harvest in 3 to 5 weeks. They are an excellent crop for children to grow because they get to see the crop mature in a short time.

Radishes are celebrated in Oaxaca, Mexico on December 23. Scenes of everything from everyday life to monsters are created by carving very large radishes and are displayed at the annual festival. Prizes are awarded in various categories.
