Sage for Memory

Sage for Memory

Health Tip of the Day

Sage is an excellent herb for boosting memory and reducing brain-fog for people of all ages.

Scientists have discovered that the aroma of sage helps regulate hormones that cause forgetfulness, memory loss, and mental functions.  The scent of sage can sharpen mental abilities for up to 4 hours.

While memory loss and lowered brain-fog usually affects older people and women of menopausal age, a study at Oregon Health and Science University, found that sage also boosts memory in healthy, younger adults as well.

Sage is an antioxidant that repairs and helps protect brain cells from inflammation and improves the oxygen supply to the brain.  According to Psychopharmacology, sage was even found helpful to Alzheimer’s patients.

According to the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, inhaling the scent of clary sage helped increase serotonin by reducing cortisol.

Sage can be used daily by adding up to 1/2 teaspoon of dried sage leaves in a cup of hot water.  Drink and enjoy the light flavor up to 4 times a day.

The scent of sage can be circulated and enjoyed in the home or office by adding essential oil drops in a diffuser.

Sage can also be added to fish and chicken dishes, omelets, tomato sauces, casseroles, soups, stews, muffins, and many other foods.
