Health Tip of the Day
Holiday parties and celebrations bring opportunities to taste new foods and dishes. But, unfortunately, the festive social get-togethers are also occasions to overeat and make unhealthy choices. Here are some tips on enjoying social gatherings while maintaining a healthy diet.
Don’t skip meals on the day of the party. Starving during the day will produce a ravenous appetite by party time. Instead, eat low-calorie vegetables and fruit to satisfy hunger throughout the day.
If going to a potluck, prepare and bring a low in calories dish to ensure there will be at least one healthful dish to eat.
Don’t stand near the buffet table. Instead, fill a plate and move away. Place emphasis on visiting with friends, games, and holiday activities.
Once satiated, stop eating. Get a healthy drink to sip on for the rest of the evening to prevent being empty-handed.
A healthy waistline will be the reward.
