This chocolate dessert is reminiscent of a mousse-like, packaged mix dessert of the 1960’s called Whip ’n Chill. This healthy version is homemade from all natural ingredients without the preservatives, stabilizers, etc. in packaged mixes.
Chocolate Dream Recipe
3 Tbsp cocoa powder
4 1/2 Tbsp granulated sugar
2 Tbsp plus 2 tsp butter
1 cup cold milk, divided
1 Tbsp granulated unflavored gelatin
1/2 cup sugar
1/8 tsp salt
1 cup cream
1/2 tsp vanilla
Soak gelatin in 1/4 cup of milk for 5 minutes.
Add cocoa powder and butter to the remaining 3/4 cup of milk and heat.
When the butter is melted stir until cocoa powder, butter, and milk are totally blended. Remove from heat.
Add softened gelatin, sugar, and salt. Stir until gelatin is dissolved.
Cool.
Add cream and vanilla.
Chill until firm, about one hour.
Beat until fluffy and thick like whipped cream.
Turn into individual molds.
Chill until firm.
Unmold.
Garnish with whipped cream if desired.
