How To Whiten Yellow Nails

How To Whiten Yellow Nails

Beauty Tip of the Day

Lemon juice is one of the best natural nail whiteners, and by adding baking soda it’s also great for whitening yellow nails.

Lemons contain vitamin C, protein, and potassium.  Vitamin C is necessary for healthy nail growth.

Remove polish before using any of the methods below to whiten nails.

Add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice to one cup warm water.  Soak nails for 10 to 15 minutes and rinse.

Alternatively, lemon juice can be directly applied to the nails with a cotton-tipped swab.  Leave on for 20 to 30 minutes and rinse with warm water.

Mix a few teaspoons of baking soda with an equal amount of water.  Add 10 drops of lemon juice and mix.  Soak nails in this mixture for 10 minutes.  Brush gently to remove dead skin and to increase whitening.

To prevent drying of skin and nails from lemon juice and other types of nail whitening treatments, soak nails in warm olive or coconut oil for 20 minutes before bedtime.  Wear cotton gloves overnight.

Lemons also contain natural anti-fungal and antibacterial properties that can kill germs that cause infections under or around the nails.

It should be noted that if yellow nails are caused by a fungal infection, the fungal infection must  be treated.
