Coffee In The Garden

Coffee In The Garden

Slugs are not welcome in the garden. Earthworms are. Here is a sure-fire way to make the earthworms happy and get rid of the slugs.

Coffee grounds are one of the most favorite foods for earthworms. Earthworm castings are one of the best natural fertilizers for an organic garden. Slugs, on the other hand, avoid coffee grounds. As a spray, caffeine kills slugs better than the most commonly sold poison bait for slugs.

Place spent coffee grounds around hostas, roses, blueberry, and strawberry plants, to keep the slugs away. Coffee grounds can make the soil acidic if used too heavily so be aware of your plants soil requirements before using a large dose of coffee grounds.
