Eucalyptus Oil For Rashes

Eucalyptus Oil For Rashes

Health Tip of the Day

Eucalyptus oil has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties that can soothe red, itchy summer rashes.

Eucalyptus oil is easy to use. Simply mix 3 drops of eucalyptus essential oil with 1 tablespoon coconut, oil, jojobo oil, or aloe vera gel. Leave on the rash for 15 minutes and then rinse off.

Clinical trials have shown that moisturizing gels or lotions containing eucalyptus have a cooling effect on rashes. The tests also showed that eucalyptus oil improved the itching, scaling, and drying symptoms of eczema.

Eucalyptus oil also helps provide healing and pain relief from minor cuts, sores, and scratches.

Acne has been shown to improve with the application of eucalyptus oil. Eucalyptus oil can help to dry pimples that have opened and drained. The antibacterial and antifungal properties protect against infection. Eucalyptus oil also helps prevent scars that result from severe acne.

Eucalyptus oil contains an antimicrobial substance that helps to prevent methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, commonly called MRSA, viruses, and Candida.

An article from the National Institute of Health reported that the antifungal properties of eucalyptus oil healed 86 percent of toenail infections of test participants.

One warning: Eucalyptus oil should never be used on children under 2 years of age without a doctor’s permission.
