Egg Shell Cleanser

Egg Shell Cleanser

Cleaning Tip of the Day

Egg shells are an inexpensive cleanser that can replace harsh chemicals for kitchens, bath, and more. Sinks, tubs, toilets, and soiled pots and pans are just a few of the tough to clean items that come sparkling clean using egg shells.

Washed and dried egg shells are perfectly safe to use as a cleanser, but if salmonella is a concern, bake the shells in a 200 F. oven for half an hour.

Crush the eggs shells. Place them in a mortar and pestle, blender, or coffee grinder and pulverize until they become a fine powder.

Mix 1 cup of egg shell powder with 3 cups baking soda.

To make a paste to clean grout or pots and pans, add a bit of vinegar. Leave on the stains for a few minutes, scrub, and rinse.

For a detergent based mixture add 1/2 cup salt and 3 cups detergent to the 1 cup of egg shell powder. No need for vinegar. Just use like any other scouring powder.

The easy to use container for the egg shell mixture is to use a salt shaker, powdered sugar duster, or flour dredge.
