Mint Reduces Perspiration

Mint Reduces Perspiration

Beauty Tip of the Day

Mint can help one stay cool, inside and out, on the hottest days.  Mint can help lower exposure to aluminum, triclosan, parabens, phthalates, artificial fragrances, and other synthetic chemicals in deodorants and antiperspirants.

Mint is an astringent which can help with reducing perspiration.  Witch hazel also has natural tannins that help with decreasing perspiration.  Combine 1 tablespoon of crushed peppermint leaves in half a cup of witch hazel and apply to underarms, and other areas of dampness, morning and evening to help lessen sweating.  This mixture can be put in an aerosol bottle and sprayed, or simply dabbed on with a cotton ball.

Peppermint essential oil can be used to control odor but not wetness.  Mix 10 drops of essential oil with 1 tablespoon of a carrier oil such as jojoba oil, almond oil, or other carrier oil.

Additionally, mint leaves in beverages, such as a cup of hot or cold tea, can bring a feeling of coolness in the body.  Mint water can be made by steeping a few leaves of mint in hot water for a few minutes.  Drink immediately or chill first.
