Cleaning Tip of the Day
The smell of a living Christmas tree makes the holiday more festive. However, live trees produce sap which can soil floors and carpets. Christmas tree sap is easy to remove with these tips.
On carpeting, saturate the sap with rubbing alcohol. Leave it sit for awhile so the alcohol can break down the sap. Then, with cold water, blot up the alcohol and sap.
Add 1 tablespoon liquid dish detergent to 1 cup of hot water. Gently brush into the carpeting. Remove with cool water.
Mineral oil will remove sap from carpeting, wood floors, and furniture. Leave it sit for 15 minutes and rinse with a soft cloth soaked in water.
Hand sanitizer or nail polish remover also work well because of their high alcohol content.
