Which Flowers Mean Love

Several varieties of flowers signify love. The flowers of choice come in various colors but red has always been given the precedence of being first choice for the color of love.

The number one flower of love has always been the red rose. An old superstition was to write the names of suitors on rose leaves with the leaves then tossed into the air. The last leaf to touch the ground was the name of the man the girl would marry.

If a white rose should bloom in the fall, it indicated a soon approaching marriage.

A man can wear a bachelor’s button in a pocket for 24 hours. If the flower remains fresh and does not wilt within that time, he is assured that his current relationship will be faithful and true.

Daisies of course have always been flowers of love. Counting down by removing the petals one by one always ends up with either “he (she) loves me, he (she) loves me not” revealing the truth about a hoped for loved one.

Being given a yellow acacia is said to mean one has a secret love.

Gardenia is another flower usually given by secret lovers.

Blue violets indicate affection, faithfulness, and love making them a beautiful romantic gift different from the usual red roses.

Jasmine is said to indicate love and modesty. A very romantic flower for a special person.

Placing a St. John’s wort flower under a pillow will reveal a future love in a dream.

Dreaming about white clover flowers means that one will soon meet a future lover.

Pink yarrow flowers should always be added to bouquets if love and romance are desired.

And lastly, forget-me-nots are a perfect gift to a loved one. Forget-me-nots ensure that one will never be forgotten, and many happy memories will be cherished for a lifetime.
