Almost everyone had a piggy bank as a child. What joy it was to hear the coins jingling with dreams of buying something very special! Every child should have that opportunity.
The piggy bank was originally called a pygg bank because the jars used were called called pyggs.
In some European countries, piggy banks are considered lucky and are given as gifts. What a better gift for a baby shower!
Very special piggy banks can sometimes be found at garage sales as well as in gift shops.
