Ginger to Lower High Blood Pressure

Health Tip of the Day

Ginger has been found effective for lowering blood pressure. Ginger oil, ground ginger, or whole fresh ginger are all useful.

According to the National Institutes of Health ginger lowers blood pressure in a manner the same way as calcium channel blockers do.

Six studies revealed that 3 grams of ginger taken daily reduced blood pressure in less than 2 months.

Ginger has been found to reduce the formation of blood clots in blood vessels and arteries. This allows blood to move freely without the heart having to work as hard.

Ginger acts as a diuretic releasing sodium which relieves edema commonly known as water retention.

A warm foot bath has been found to lower blood pressure by providing muscle relaxation and improving circulation. A study in Advances in Health Science Research found that by adding 2 tablespoons of powdered ginger to the foot bath, blood pressure readings were lowered 20 to 30 points systolic, and 10 points diastolic.

Try a warm ginger foot bath before retiring for the night and watch blood pressure readings lower up to 10 points in just 7 days.
