Vinegar For Fabric Softener

Vinegar For Fabric Softener

Cleaning Tip of the Day

For a natural and non-toxic fabric softener, nothing beats white vinegar.

Replacing fabric softener sheets and commercial liquid softeners removes toxic chemical buildup on blankets, towels, and clothing. Vinegar breaks down the residue that causes coarse, hard-feeling towels and blankets.

For soft and fluffy fleece blankets wash them in the hottest water allowed with half the usual detergent, and add 1 cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle.

Rinsing clothing with a vinegar rinse helps to reduce static which helps clothing stay cleaner longer.

Vinegar also sets colors and results in extra sparkling white linens.

Vinegar removes any mildew or moldy odors.

If commercial liquid fabric softener is still desired, use half softener and half vinegar.

If the scent of commercial softeners are desired simply add a few drops of essential oil to the vinegar and mix well before adding to the rinse water.

Washing machines also benefit. Adding one-fourth cup white vinegar reduces odors and helps to keep the washing machine smelling fresh and clean.
