Vanilla extract can be used to flavor foods besides the usual cakes, cookies, puddings, milkshakes, and whipped cream.
Add one-fourth teaspoon to the water and mix well before adding to pie crust dough. It enhances the flavor of the pie crust.
Professional cooks are also known to add vanilla to doughnut dough before frying or baking.
Adding vanilla extract to any recipe with maple as the primary flavor will be enhanced by the vanilla flavoring.
A rather unusual tip is to add a bit of vanilla extract to a glass of cola. Pour one-fourth teaspoon of vanilla extract onto the ice cubes. Then add 12 oz of cola.
Vanilla extract can turn regular tea into an exotic vanilla tea. After steeping the tea, stir in vanilla extract, and milk and sugar to taste. Top with a dash of cinnamon or a cinnamon stick.
