How to Remove Excess Perfume

Beauty Tip of the Day

Applying too much perfume is a mishap that can happen to anyone who loves to wear perfume. Not only does it annoy anyone nearby, it may cause serious problems for people sensitive to scents.

The first thought and reaction is to reach for soap and hot water, but since alcohol and water don’t mix, this method is useless.

One of the best ways to remove excess perfume is by soaking a cotton ball or pad with rubbing alcohol. Then apply it to the skin where the excess perfume was applied. The alcohol will remove some of the perfume as it evaporates.

A paste made of equal amounts of baking soda and water and applied to the excess perfume area will remove some of the scent. Leave it on for a few minutes and wash off.

A true perfume scent should last all day so there shouldn’t be any need of applying perfume away from home. However, baby wipes can be carried in a purse and used if necessary.

One professional tip to prevent the application of excess perfume is to hold the atomizer at least 10 inches away. Experts recommend using only 2 spritzes, 4 at the very most.
