Natural Lemon Deodorant

Natural Lemon Deodorant

Beauty Tip of the Day

Just as lemon juice is a good deodorizer for a refrigerator it works well as a natural deodorant.  For those who want to avoid aluminum and other chemicals in deodorants and antiperspirants, lemon is a natural deodorant.

According to the Mount Sinai Medical Center, lemon is a suitable natural deodorant because it contains citric acid.  Citric acid kills bacteria by reducing the pH of the skin and the odors they cause.

To use a lemon as a deodorant it can be used as is, or the juice can be extracted and applied.

After cutting a lemon in half, it can be used for a week if refrigerated.

Simply rub the half of a lemon on the underarm area.  Leave the juice on for 10 to 15 minutes and rinse.  Alternatively, apply a teaspoon of lemon juice to the underarm area with a cotton pad or ball.

Underarms will remain free of odor for 12 to 24 hours.

Lemon juice not only kills odor, lemon defoliates so it lightens dark underarm skin.

For those who prefer to not apply lemon juice directly on the skin, lemon juice can be mixed with aloe vera gel and applied as a gel.
